Aluminum Foil Tape for Ventilation
Aluminum foil tape is a thin aluminium strip with an acrylic or rubber adhesive layer that seals the joint and reflects heat at the same time. Heat reflection is what separates it from ordinary mounting tape.
Heat resistant aluminum tape withstands continuous temperatures of roughly +120°C, and higher for short periods, so it is used in ventilation ducts, flues, hot water pipe insulation and around stoves and fireplaces.
Thermal insulation aluminum tape is used to tape the joints of mineral wool and polystyrene boards — it closes the seam, stops heat escaping through the joint and keeps the vapour barrier continuous.
