ALENOR Self-Adhesive Reinforced Aluminum Tape
ALENOR reinforced aluminium tape is a self-adhesive aluminium foil tape with a reinforcing polymer mesh (scrim) and a permanent-tack adhesive. The mesh makes it much more resistant to tearing and puncturing than plain foil tape, so it works well where the tape is stretched, folded or under mechanical load. It is used to seal joints in reflective insulation and seams in air ducts and pipe insulation to reduce heat loss, stop vapour and protect against corrosion.
Composition
- Aluminium foil – reflects heat and blocks vapour
- Polymer reinforcing mesh – tear resistance
- Permanent-tack adhesive layer
- Release paper, removed during application
Technical data
- Size: 50 mm × 40 m
- Tensile strength: ≥ 80 N/25 mm
- Elongation: ≥ 5 %
- Peel adhesion to steel: 14 N/25 mm
- Service temperature: −10 °C to +75 °C
- Application temperature: +5 °C to +40 °C
- Service life: 10 years
Where to use it
- Reflective (foil) insulation – seams between sheets and rolls so the insulation layer stays continuous.
- Ventilation and air ducts – duct joints, branches and insulation seams.
- Pipe insulation – covering seams and ends of foil-faced insulation.
- Equipment housings and covers – sealing seams and joints in construction, repair and installation work.
- Sound insulation – covering joints of NSP MultiLayer sound insulation on ducts and soil stacks.
Reinforced or heat-resistant aluminium tape?
The reinforced tape is the right choice when tear resistance matters and the surface temperature does not exceed +75 °C. For hot surfaces, choose the heat-resistant aluminium foil tape.
How to apply
- The surface must be clean, dry and degreased – dust and oil reduce adhesion.
- Cut the required length with a knife or scissors.
- Remove the release paper gradually and position the tape so it covers the seam on both sides.
- Press firmly along the whole length with a pressure roller to push out the air and achieve full adhesion.
Apply at +5…+40 °C. In cold weather, warm up the tape and the surface first.
Frequently asked questions
How is reinforced tape different from plain aluminium tape?
The reinforcing mesh takes the load, so the tape does not tear when stretched or creased. It lasts longer under intensive use.
Is it suitable for ventilation ducts?
Yes, sealing air ducts and their insulation seams is one of its main uses.
Are other sizes available?
The shop stocks 50 mm × 40 m rolls. The manufacturer also makes 75 and 100 mm widths – ask us about larger orders.
