NSP MultiLayer (SOFT) PRO acoustic thermal insulation
NSP MultiLayer (SOFT) PRO is a self-adhesive multilayer material for vibration damping and sound insulation. It is applied directly to the source of noise – a steel bathtub, shower tray, soil stack, air duct or equipment housing. The butyl rubber membrane damps the vibration of metal so the bath or sheet-metal duct stops drumming, the foamed rubber layer absorbs sound, and the aluminium foil reflects heat and protects the surface against moisture and corrosion. Sound insulation according to the manufacturer's data sheet: Rw 26 dB.
Supplied in 500 mm × 5 m rolls (2.5 m²) that are easy to cut to size with a knife.
Composition
- Laminated aluminium foil – protects the surface and reflects heat
- Butyl rubber membrane – damps vibration
- Foamed synthetic rubber – absorbs sound and insulates
- High-tack adhesive layer with reinforcing mesh
- Release film, removed just before application
Technical data

- Service life: at least 10 years
- Use: indoors
Where to use it
- Steel bathtubs, shower trays and sinks – apply to the outer surface before installation so that the water jet does not cause a drumming noise.
- Soil stacks and sewer risers – reduces the noise of flowing water in apartment buildings.
- Ventilation and HVAC ducts – damps sheet-metal vibration and airflow noise while adding insulation.
- Household and industrial equipment – metal housings, covers and panels.
- Walls and ceilings – local noise, vibration and vapour insulation in residential and industrial rooms.
How to install
- Clean and degrease the surface – it must be dry and free of dust and oil.
- Measure and cut the material. On a bath or shower tray, leave the feet, drain and fixing points free.
- Remove the release film and apply from the centre outwards so that no air is trapped underneath.
- Press the whole area firmly, ideally with a pressure roller.
- On ducts and pipes, cover the joints with reinforced aluminium tape to keep the foil layer continuous.
Install at +5…+40 °C. In a cold room, warm up both the material and the surface first.
Frequently asked questions
Can it be used on plastic drain pipes?
Yes, the material adheres well to plastic sewer pipes. For straight pipe sections the ready-made NSP(SOFT) PRO sound insulation kit for drainage pipes is more convenient, while the MultiLayer roll suits stacks, bends and larger surfaces.
How is it different from XLPE tape?
XLPE acoustic insulation tape is a thin foam tape that separates structures and breaks the path of impact noise. NSP MultiLayer is a heavier multilayer material that damps the vibration of the surface itself.
How much do I need for a bathtub?
Measure the outer surface of the bath – one roll covers 2.5 m². The bottom and the sides where the water jet hits give the biggest effect.
Can it be used outdoors?
No, it is intended for indoor use only.
